Marco A. Barros, President/CEO San Antonio Area Tourism Council

“Our industry continues to grow with over 130,796 employed in the tourism and hospitality sector.

San Antonio's hospitality industry continues to be a driving force in the local economy. In 2015, it accounted for one out of every eight jobs in the metropolitan area, attracted 28 million visitors and had a total economic impact of over $13.6 billion.

The total economic impact has increased by 50% in the past decade and tripled since 1991. This influx of money helped to offset local taxes by contributing more than $195 million in taxes and fees to the city. The hospitality industry also contributed in excess of $375 million to local governments.

Most important, the industry brings over $14 million to community giving every year in the form of in-kind, cash donations and volunteer time.”
